Michelle's corner

Michelle Knight. Writer, photographer, programmer, truck driver and general, all round nut case. Life is a journey and that's what this blog will probably end up being. Let's see where we go, eh? ;-)

Fiction and reality

In Genie, I took us in to a future where animals are aggressive towards the human race and have an intelligence good enough to specifically target people and villages.

But how far am I away from actual truth? What was my basis for going so far in the book?

Even today, some birds are going as far as dropping poisonous snakes on to their enemies (us) - physical bird attacks are well documented, but using one predator as a tool to attack another?! - https://www.onlyinaustralia.net/australia-where-the-wildlife-is-so-determined-to-kill-you-birds-throw-snakes-at-you.html

Intelligence and memory even goes down to the lowly hermit crab, which can not only feel pain, but remember how it was triggered and take steps to avoid it - https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2009/03/090327072759.htm

The intelligence present in the animal world is scary sometimes, and we would be fools if we believe that humans are the only ones evolving...
