Michelle Knight. Writer, photographer, programmer, truck driver and general, all round nut case. Life is a journey and that's what this blog will probably end up being. Let's see where we go, eh? ;-)
Right now, the graphic novel industry is still feeling a little, "meh," to me. To explain, it's like you get an album and you like a few of the tracks, but for the rest of it, you wonder what the musicians were smoking.
I did say I was going to wait until I had all three but, heck, I'm a sucker for a cliffhanger, particularly when I know the other two issues are ordered and paid for.
So, the advertising level was fine. One advert did knock me out of the groove, but the others, I didn't see at all during the proper read. I know a little about Deadpool, but sweet F.A. about Cable. However, the issue did enough to get me in to Cable's groove without wasting precious panels; and I felt the character vibes within just a few panels.
The mental interplay with Deadpool was groovy. I was expecting the fourth wall to get a little bruised, which it did, but it didn't wreck the story; it actually played in to the whole set up. And battering that fourth wall takes skill.
Deadpool's wife is, um, interesting. And this whole thing is nicely set up for issue #2. I actually enjoyed the mental play. Some of the sound effects, when written, didn't sit quite nicely, but... hey. I'm in a forgiving mood.
