The Fame Game.

The internet has completely changed the fame game.

Previously, we had restricted channels of mass entertainment. For those of us who didn't have the free time to pick up a backpack, torch and packed lunch, to adventure in to the vast depths of the libraries, we were restricted to what was on the shelves of our book shop or what was gossiped about in the media.

Now, we can choose from the world, and as a result very few will win the fame game to the extent that others have done in the past; purely because segments of society are now following different people. If they want to get themselves known, then they have to something spectacular; and lets face it, it's easier to become famous for doing something bad, than it is for something good.

I still have, in my minds eye, that vision of Tom Cruise bouncing up and down on Opera's sofa. That ain't leaving me any time soon.

Even though I know I live outside what society blindly calls, "normal," and exist in fear of hypocrites pointing their fingers at me, I feel relatively safe as long as I behave in a respectable manner.

The question I have to ask myself is, am I willing to smash the boundaries in order to achieve the spotlight? Is fame worth the price of abandoning my personal vision and standards?

I guess not.
